About Diane Ramus
Hello, my name is Diane Ramus, and I am an Alfred University Class of 2022 graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art and a minor in Marketing.
My art expresses the simplicity of life, the elegance of light, and the story within all of us. Through my art, I want the viewer to become aware of their own story and, even if their story is unknown, realize they are not alone.
My technique is simplistic, for even in simplicity, the story within can be vast and complex. That modesty not only allows the viewer to understand my intent but also to interpret the piece in a way that’s meaningful to them.
My story is told through the look on a model’s face, the reflection of light off the curve of their cheek, the position and attitude of their form, the direction of their gaze, and their contrast to the world behind them. This implies emotions, even passions, that lead the viewer to look within and find a moment in their past when they felt like that.
There is no right or wrong in art; it is simply freedom. I can project the consciousness of thought to tell my story and lead the viewer to search their soul and find their own. Art allows me to have a voice without using words.
